Piano man

The piano man show has suffered in recent years for two main reasons.

  1. There have been no Piano Bars in Toowoomba, and
  2. My hand hurts

Gone seem to be the days of the late 80's and 90's where there were many piano bars in Toowoomba.

The Cube Hotel has recently taken a big plunge to try to resurrect this wonderful Toowoomba art form. I have started a residency there on Friday nights (with a few exceptions) and hope that this can once again be patronised.

A piano bar traditionally is a place you can go to have a quieter musical experience. Listen to some simple style music at a volume that still allows you to have a conversation without shouting.

Two of my major residencies were in this setting. The piano crosses so many different genres and styles and I met many great people in my time at these venues.

  • Norville Hotel, Friday night Piano Bar residency for four years in the early 90's
  • Shamrock Hotel, Friday night Piano/Guitar residency for four years in the late 90's

Check out the gig guide to catch up for a piano show.

Guitar man

A surprise package if you have only ever seen the piano show.

Not your average joe singer guitarist, he utilises the very rhythmic and varied sounds of the acoustic guitar. He has an appreciation for organised bass lines that is clearly evident in his arrangements.
